A rough outline of the morning of the 29th as follows;
500 students are broken down into five groups.
Each group a colour of the Olympic symbol.
This is organised prior to the day.
The teachers will wear the high vis of their groups colour.
Each school will have coloured wrist bands distributed to schools before the event.
Schools to arrive at the track for before 10:30am
Music is playing. We have hired a PA system. Excitment and atmosphere is building.
They will be met at the gate by a designated adult who will welcome them and an assigned TY student will bring them to their position on the track.
There is black and white mats with numbers on them to be placed around the track for ease .
A map of the track can be handed to the teacher on arrival. There is only eleven schools so info sheet by eleven is very doable.
Once everyone is in position at their allocated mat ,Sonia can welcome everyone and say a few words.
This is also an opportunity to have a school photo taken with Sonia as the schools will be holding their banners and in their groups .
Sonia to go to each mat for the photograph and move on.
Olympic parade commences around the track.
Sonia has her medals and OIympic torch.
After the parade everyone led by their teachers to the grass pitch for the Olympic symbol photograph.
This will be laid out already with discs .
The teachers will distribute the coloured card for the kids to hold above their heads.
Once all photos and drone is complete, groups to stay in their colours and TY leaders with coloured flags (to match the coloured wristbands) to lead them around to their five different zones, roughly ten minutes at each zone/activity. Timer set to rotate the groups.
•Middle distance, laps with Sonia around the track, inside three lanes. •Standing long jumps and plyometrics along one length of the pitch •Bean bag throws along opposite pitch length.(shot put without the shot put!) •Core work/pilates session we have Lisa Reilly from the body Pilates studio heading this zone and second zone with Matthew Boccaccio of Republic of Fitness doing a mobility session.
•100m Sprint relay section across four lanes (similar to Relay the Nation) Cora Staunton of Mayo Sports Partnership to head this.
If time allows at the end a short Q&A with Sonia. We have asked each school to prepare two questions in advance and of time allows then for further questions.
