County Mayo T&F Championship's

The County Mayo Track and Field Chmpionships will take place on Sunday 20th May 2012,

Claremorris Track.
Start 9.30am photos.
Entry Fee €7/athlete.
U9, 10, 11 team event and relay. (see AI website, Juvenile competition booklet, team competition, for details)
U12-U19 three events and relay.

ASHLING HENEGHAN WINS ALL IRELAND BRONZE FOR WESTPORT AC

The second weekend of the Woodie's DIY National Juvenile Indoor Championships took place last weekend in Nenagh, with five athletes from Westport travelling to the competition.

In the 200m both Cathy McKenna and Diarmuid McGreal put in fine performances in the U19 girls and U17 boys respectively.  Niamh McLoughlin was just shy of a medal coming fourth in the U17 girls Shot Putt with a fine throw of 10.14m

TWO NATIONAL MEDALS FOR WESTPORT AC

Westport Athletics Club had a successful weekend at the Woodie's DIY Juvenile Indoor Championships in Nenagh.  Over 1000 athletes took part from all over the country in age groups from U12 to U19 categories in a wide range of running, throwing and jumping events.

Westport AC athletes had some excellent performances over the two days coming home with two national medals. Saturday afternoon started with Ellen Moran taking the bronze in the girl's U18 1500m in a time of 5m13.65s.  We had further ...

WESTPORT AC EXCELS AT CONNAUGHT INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY 2

Last Sunday Westport AC travelled to Nenagh for the second day of the Connaught Juvenile Indoor Championships with srints, middle distance, walks and relays taking place.

The first Westport athlete to win a medal was Ellen Moran in the U18 girls 1500m where she had a marvellous performance and won the first gold medal of the day.  David Harper was next in the U18 boys 1500m, where he stormed home, well ahead, also taking gold.

WESTPORT AC EXCELS AT CONNAUGHT INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY 1

Last Saturday Westport AC travelled to Claremorris for the first day of the Connaught Juvenile Indoor Championships with the hurdles and all the field events taking place.  Normally held in Nenagh, this was the first time Claremorris hosted these Championships in their new indoor arena, an excellent facility.

The first athlete to perform was Alannah Gannon in the U14 girls hurdles where she had a marvellous performance, a pb of 9.9secs and the first gold medal of the day.

C & C Cellular Mayo Indoor Athletic Championships 2012

Over six hundred athletes descended on Claremorris Athletic Club on Sunday
for the C & C Cellular Mayo Indoor Track and Field championships.  It was
great to see athletes from a new club in Ballinrobe taking part.  Competition
