Westport AC was the largest Juvenile Athletics club in Mayo and the eighth largest in Ireland in April 2024, report showing below.
Based on our current juvenile numbers of 407, this would put us as the third largest Juvenile club in Ireland after Dundrum South Dublin AC and Bandon AC Cork, based on their figures in April 2024.
In September 2023 we had 288 juvenile members so a growth of over 40% in one year with total club membership at over 520 and climbing each week.
This growth is in no small part to our wonderful team of coaches who are nurturing our athletes and giving them space to enjoy getting fit in a fun way.
We have also had huge investment in our facilities in Horkan's Hill and are eagerly awaiting a tartan track in the coming months.
We are forever indebted to the generosity and support of so many wonderful businesses and individuals in our Community.
Three
Westport athletes participated in the Woodies DIY Senior Indoor
Championships in Belfast at the weekend. First up was Cian McManamon in
the 5k walk where he secured a PB against World Class Champions Robert
Heffernan, Jamie Costin and Colin Griffin.
Next came Pamela
Hughes who won Gold and successfully defended her Senior Title jumping
1.75m in what was a great competition. Finally Caoimhe King put in a
great performance securing Gold and creating a new Junior Irish Indoor
Record jumping 12.22m.
Congratulations to all three athletes on their fantastic performances.
