 Westport AC Membership update

Westport AC is the largest Juvenile Athletics club in Mayo and the seventh largest in Ireland in the latest Athletics Ireland club membership report.  Out of the 366 affiliated clubs with Athletics Ireland, Westport AC is currently 20th overall.  

A snapshot of the April report showing below. 


We currently have 420 juvenile members, in September 2023 we had 288 juvenile members so a growth of over 45% in one year with total club membership at 535 and climbing each week. 


This growth is in no small part to our wonderful team of coaches who are nurturing our athletes and giving them space to enjoy getting fit in a fun way. 


We have also had huge investment in our facilities in Horkan's Hill and are eagerly awaiting a tartan track in the coming months. 


We are forever indebted to the generosity and support of so many wonderful businesses and individuals in our Community.

Get your running shoes on because Ray D’Arcy is coming to Westport on March 27th to get people moving from “couch to 5K”.

Westport Athletic Club is hosting the Join SPAR and Ray for 5K event and is encouraging anyone who wants a relatively easy to way to improve their health to sign up to run with Ray today on athleticsireland.ie, www.SPAR.ie or simply search Join SPAR and Ray for 5K.

Entries Connaught Indoor Competition U12-U19

Connaught Indoor Competition for Athletes aged U12-U19 will take place on Sunday 3rd of March in Athlone Institute of Technology. ENTRIES MUST BE MADE THIS THURSDAY AT TRAINING SESSION ON THE TRACK  6PM-7.30PM  21st OF FEBRUARY., NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.   Athletes can choose 3 events €3 per event. Relays if numbers sufficient, coaches will decide relay team members.

Mayo Indoor Competition Results

The C & C Cellular/Vodafone Mayo Indoor Athletic Championships were held in Claremorris Athletic Club last weekend. Over five hundred boys and girls for Achill, Aughagower, Ballina, Castlebar, Claremorris, Lake District, Swinford and Westport took part.  Competition was very keen with all boys and girls fighting for places in an array of events.  A special thanks to all who officiated on the day and to the team at Claremorris Athletic Club for all their help and hospitality.
