Last Saturday Westport AC travelled to Claremorris for the first day of the Connaught Juvenile Indoor Championships with the hurdles and all the field events taking place.  Normally held in Nenagh, this was the first time Claremorris hosted these Championships in their new indoor arena, an excellent facility.

The first athlete to perform was Alannah Gannon in the U14 girls hurdles where she had a marvellous performance, a pb of 9.9secs and the first gold medal of the day.

C & C Cellular Mayo Indoor Athletic Championships 2012

                                  U12 Upward's Mayo Indoors

Over six hundred athletes descended on Claremorris Athletic Club on Sunday
for the C & C Cellular Mayo Indoor Track and Field championships.  It was
great to see athletes from a new club in Ballinrobe taking part.  Competition
was very competitive with old and new athletes trying for the medals.  A

Thousands to take to the streets of Castlebar for Western People West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon

The third annual Western People West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon will take place in Castlebar on Sunday, May 6, 2012. More than 5,000 women are expected to take part in this year’s event.

The event was officially launched in Áras an Chontae, Castlebar on Thursday evening, January 26, by Minister for Sport and Tourism, Michael Ring. The Minister congratulated the organisers and participants who have made the event possible over the last two years and wished them the very best of luck ...
