 Westport AC Membership update

Westport AC is the largest Juvenile Athletics club in Mayo and the seventh largest in Ireland in the latest Athletics Ireland club membership report.  Out of the 366 affiliated clubs with Athletics Ireland, Westport AC is currently 20th overall.  

A snapshot of the April report showing below. 


We currently have 420 juvenile members, in September 2023 we had 288 juvenile members so a growth of over 45% in one year with total club membership at 535 and climbing each week. 


This growth is in no small part to our wonderful team of coaches who are nurturing our athletes and giving them space to enjoy getting fit in a fun way. 


We have also had huge investment in our facilities in Horkan's Hill and are eagerly awaiting a tartan track in the coming months. 


We are forever indebted to the generosity and support of so many wonderful businesses and individuals in our Community.

A Great Win for David

Congratulations to David Harper who won the Junior Great Ireland Run for the second consecutive time on Sunday April 10th in the Phoenix Park, Dublin in a time of 9 minutes and 14 seconds. Well done David!

Another Successful Weekend for Westport A.C. Athletes

Last weekend April 2nd /3rd saw the second and final weekend of the 2011 Woodie’s DIY Irish Juvenile Indoor Championships take place at the Nenagh Indoor Arena, Co.Tipperary. Westport Athletics Club was well represented taking home two silver medals and one bronze. Saturday started with our walkers and Matthew O’Malley winning his first All Ireland with a bronze in the Boys U14 1000m Walk.  Clara Tierney then took the silver in the U16 Girls 1500m Walk in an impressive 8.03.77 minu...
