Kate O’Malley had a great start to the day winning gold in the U13 girls javelin, followed by a silver in the shot putt.  The U14 girls relay team consisting of Alannah Gannon, Ruth Gallagher, Jennifer Chambers, Tara McGreevy and Aoife O’Brien ran brilliantly to bring home the gold.  Alannah Gannon continued her fantastic day winning silver in the U14 girls hurdles and taking first place in both the high jump and 200m.  Ruth Gallagher ran her heart out and won gold in the U14 girls 80m sprint.  Jennifer Chambers had another exceptional day taking home gold in the U14 girls javelin, shot putt and discus.  Tara McGreevy jumped a PB of 4.49m in the U14 girls long jump and won the silver medal.  In the U18 girls 3km walk Ashling Henaghan had a superb race and a PB of 16m 10s leading to a second place finish.  Cathy McKenna also took a silver medal in the U19 girls 200m.

In the U13 boys high jump, James Corcoran, who only recently returned to athletics, won the bronze medal.  Patrick Chambers ran an excellent race in the U13 boys 600m, taking home the silver with a PB of 1:42.9.  In the U14 boys hammer Cian O’Farrell won a silver medal.  Mathew O’Malley won the U15 boys 2k walk race.  In the U18 boys 400m Jason Gavin ran a superb race and finished second.  David Harper put in another excellent performance winning gold in the U18 boys 800m.

All of these athletes now progress to the All Ireland finals, which take place in Tullamore on the weekends of 14th/15th July and 28th/29th July. Click HERE to View photos.
