Westport AC came home with a grand total of 27 medals from the recent U13-U19 Connacht Track and Field Championships held at Sligo IT recently, comprising of 18 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze.  Allanah Gannon won a superb 4 gold medals with a PB of 1.45 in the U13 High Jump, first in the 80m sprint, first in the 60m Hurdles and first as part of the U13 relay team.  Tara McGreevy took silver in the U13 60m sprint, bronze in the high jump, fourth in the long jump and also part of the girls U13 relay gold winning team.  Jennifer Chambers took home an excellent 3 gold medals with wins in the Shot Putt, Javelin and the U13 girls relay team.  Aoife O’Brien also won gold in the U13 girls relay team.  In the U13 boys Joe Dawson ran a closely fought race to win bronze in the 600m.  Cian O’Farrell came fourth in the Javelin and Cian Geraghty took home the silver in the Shot Putt.

In the U14 girls Sorcha McAllister came second in the 1500m.  In the U15 girls Ellie Conway won the long jump and came third in the high jump.  Aoife Gannon took home the gold in the high jump.  The U15 boys hammer saw Brendan McLoughlin taking the silver medal.  Niamh McLoughlin won the U16 girls Shot Putt and came fourth in the discus. Diarmuid McGreal came third in the U16 boys 200m and fourth in the 100m.

Stephanie Henaghan won the girls U17 discus while her sister Ashling came second in the 3000m walk.  David Harper won the gold in the boys U17 1500m.  In the girls U18 Katie Hyland brought home the gold in the 100m Hurdles while Alice Dever won the Triple Jump.  In the boys U18 Anthony Chambers won the gold in both the 800m and the 1500m.

In the Senior Mens Rob Kennon won the silver medal in both the hammer and discus events.

Well done to all these athletes who go forward to the All-Irelands, which will be held 9th/10th July and 23rd/24th July in Tullamore.
